Two of the currencies in Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery are Gems and Coins. Both can be used to purchase in-game items like clothes, although different items will require using coins or gems. Coins and Gems can be earned in-game by completing activities, but can also be bought using real money (we've listed the real world cost of these below). Only Gems can be used to refill your energy meter.
How to Earn House Points in Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
Building up points for you house is one of the main tasks in Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. There are numerous ways to earn House Points, and we've detailed them for you below:
- Perform well at school - Answer questions correctly and do well during demonstrations to earn House Points (be aware that doing badly can mean you lose House Points)
- Complete story quests
- Dialog choices - make sure you make dialog choices that are in-keeping with the values of your chosen house
Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery In-App Purchases - Coins and Gems
Hogwarts Mystery is free to download and play, but it does come with a lot of in-game purchase options. We've detailed the available in-game purchases below, along with the prices. These are split into gems and coins.

Unfortunately, it's currently unclear what the requirements are for obtaining the 100 free Gems, and it appears as though players are obtaining them at completely different times, on both Android and iOS. Make sure to keep an eye on this space, as we'll be updating the guide if we find a way of earning the free Gems for certain.
